2 Camp: Spanish immersion

Both options are confirmed Spanish and both are a short walk from Viadora. Decision 2026-05-26: Colegio Ciudad is the primary pick (better facilities, structured program, included field trips); Lighthouse is the fallback.

Why Colegio: better facilities, a structured program, and 4 included field trips (real-world Spanish). The cost is the 14:00 pickup and no August program, so afternoons and the final days lean on a Spanish-speaking nanny. That trade is acceptable because the nanny compounds the immersion better than two extra camp hours would. Lighthouse stays as the fallback if a spot or logistics fall through.

3 Logistics checklist

Grouped by status. The red items are the open gaps we are working to fill.

Done
  • Dates set: Jul 6 to Aug 5
Penthouse window; first week free before camp.
  • Housing identified, request sent
Isabella by Viadora, direct booking in progress.
  • Both camps confirmed Spanish
    Colegio confirmed 2026-05-26; Lighthouse 100%.
  • Primary camp chosen: Colegio Ciudad
    Lighthouse held as the fallback.
  • Walk distances confirmed
Both schools under 10 min on foot.
In progress
  • Colegio enrollment + spot hold
Confirm with coordinator: hold spots before Jul 6, Google form + cash at Caja + responsiva.
  • Viadora all-in rate + hold
Email sent 2026-05-26, awaiting price with tax.
  • Gold Suite Jul 25 to Aug 5
Ace to confirm, then lock with Viadora.
Gaps to fill
  • Passports valid (all 4)
Check expiry. Minor renewals take weeks and gate everything else.
  • Flights: outbound booked, return open
Outbound United UA 429, IAH to MEX nonstop, Jul 4 9:45pm to 11:10pm, all 4 travelers, conf D31C60 (2026-05-26). InterContinental at $99/night covers Jul 4 to 5 before the Penthouse. Return Aug 5 still to book.
  • Cash plan in pesos
Both camps are cash-only MXN. Sort fee-free card / ATM access / amount to carry.
  • Airport + outing transport (no car seats)
Not bringing car seats (Ace, 2026-05-26). School run is walkable, so seats only matter for the airport and weekend trips. Need a car-seat-equipped driver / transfer, or a month rental.
  • Spanish-speaking nanny / sitter (now a must)
Colegio ends at 14:00 and has no August program, so the nanny covers afternoons and Aug 1 to 5, and keeps the kids in Spanish at home.
  • Pediatric care + meds
Line up a clinic (Centro Médico ABC, to verify), bring a month of prescriptions + vaccination records, confirm health insurance covers Mexico.
  • Work connectivity
Confirm Viadora wifi speed for calls; Telcel eSIM / hotspot backup. Confirm July Houston vs CDMX time offset (verify).
  • Banking + groceries
Travel notice + no-foreign-fee card. Confirm suite kitchen; map nearby supermarkets.
  • Rainy-season packing
July is peak rain in CDMX: rain gear, mornings outdoors, afternoons indoors.
  • Insurance + weekends (optional)
CFAR if prepaying nonrefundable; STEP enrollment; weekend plans (Chapultepec, Papalote, Xochimilco).
